Julio 2015, Berlin
Es una serie realizada en Berlín durante el verano de 2015. Baños, es un acercamiento directo a el espacio más intimo y personal del ser humano común.
Estas fotografías fueron tomadas con mi teléfono celular en casas de amigos de distintas nacionalidades y muestran la capacidad del ser humano de adaptarse a un nuevo entorno.
A finales de junio de 2014 llegué a Berlín formando parte de un intercambio cultural. A principios de agosto, una noche antes de regresar a México, sufrí un accidente. Ya en el hospital los médicos me recomendaron no viajar porque si lo hacía, corría el riesgo de morir en el avión a causa de una trombosis o, en el mejor de los casos, perdería la pierna que me había fracturado. Bajo estas circunstancias decidí permanecer en Berlín.
Después de la cirugía y de dos semanas de hospitalización regresé a México a continuar con el proceso de rehabilitación que duraría ocho meses más.
Cuando concluí este proceso, busqué la oportunidad de regresar a Berlín para cerrar este difícil capítulo y para trabajar en algunos proyectos fotográficos personales. Encontré esa oportunidad y en ésta ocasión permanecí nueve semanas viviendo ahí.
Además durante este tiempo me reencontré con los amigos que había hecho el año anterior y conocí algunos nuevos. Gradualmente todos se convirtieron en amigos entrañables y nuestra cercanía me permitió desarrollar este proyecto durante las últimas dos semanas que viví ahí.
Lo que me motivó fue la curiosidad por conocer diferencias culturales entre México y Berlín. Sin embargo éstas fotografías no reflejan la identidad propia ni la cultura o las costumbres del país de origen, sino que nos muestran cómo distintas culturas habitan en baños berlineses.
Así es como este proyecto se define como una investigación basada en imágenes utilizadas como instrumento para la observación, la descripción y el análisis de un espacio privado dentro del hábitat de la juventud en Berlín.
This serie was made in Berlin during the summer of 2015. Baths, is a direct approach to the most intimate and personal space of the common human being.
These photographs were taken with my cell phone in the homes of friends from different nationalities and show the ability of human beings to adapt to a new environment.
In late June 2014 I arrived in Berlin as part of a cultural exchange. In early August, one night before returning to Mexico, I had an accident. At the hospital the doctors recommended me not to travel because if I did, I´ve the risked of dying on the plane because of a thrombosis, or at best, lose the leg that I´ve broke. Under these circumstances I decided to stay in Berlin.
After the surgery and two weeks of hospitalization I returned to Mexico to continue the rehabilitation process that continue for eight months.
When I finished this process, I looked for the opportunity to return to Berlin to close this difficult chapter and to work on some personal photographic projects. I found that opportunity and on this occasion I remained nine weeks living there.
Also during this time I met again with friends that I´ve done the previous year and met some new ones. Gradually they all became close friends and our proximity allowed me to develop this project over the last two weeks that I lived there.
What motivated me was the curious about cultural differences between Mexico and Berlin. However these photographs do not reflect the identity or culture or customs of the country of origin but show us how different cultures live in Berlin bathrooms.
This is how this project is defined as an investigation based on images used as a tool for observation, description and analysis of a private space within the habitat of youth in Berlin.
